Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act
This one goes out to all of the Seattle Michael Vick's out there, inside and out of the big house. Staged animal fighting is a crime, and if you staged it you will do time. You dig?
The Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act was signed into law in May 2007. The Act addresses the growing problem of staged animal fighting in the United States. Animal fighting ventures are defined as any event that involves a fight between at least two animals that is conducted for purposes of sport, wagering or entertainment.
The Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act makes buying, selling or transporting animals for participation in animal fighting ventures a federal crime. It also increases the penalties under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) for transporting animals in interstate commerce for the purpose of fighting, and for interstate and foreign commerce in weapons designed for use in cockfighting.
