Ever since “Treasure Island,” people have associated overflowing treasure chests with pirates. Well, very few pirates actually buried their treasure in a big trunk or chest, but you can dream, can’t you? But in the real world, you can find a lot of good reasons to go chest shopping.
So, what’s the difference between Seattle chests and trunks?
Both are rectangular structures, much like a deep box with a lid. The interior often has smaller subsections, divided by partitions. But trunks are typically built stronger, with locks and reinforced walls, since they were used as luggage. Chests are used for storage, and are not moved around a great deal.
In the past, Seattle trunks and chests were used to store clothing, especially for long periods of time, such as for long trips, or for British children headed to boarding school on the Continent.
