State Tourism Offices
If you are trying to find a way to get out of Baie-Comeau, and to travel somewhere within the great U.S.A., an easy search for a great destination is to look at each state's tourism office for great ideas. Kansas could have far more to offer than you ever imagined, like Smallville or Metropolis for instance, oh wait, that is actually filmed in Canada. Well, I'm sure there's something to do there...
The U.S. does not maintain a single tourist office for the whole country; each state operates its own individual office. The mission of most state tourism offices is to promote vacationing in the state by residents and visitors and to contribute to the state's economy by supporting the tourism industry. For example, many state tourism offices can provide information on amusement parks and other popular summer vacation destinations. A few tourism offices also manage state parks.
Additional information that may be provided by state tourism agencies includes:
- Maps of the state's regions
- Information about state parks, trails and scenic drives
- Guides to special-purpose travel, such as fishing, skiing, birding or fall foliage
- Links to and/or listings of accommodations, campgrounds, restaurants and shopping
- Calendars of local festivals and other events
- Forms to request printed guides and literature
- Current weather, driving and ski conditions
- Tourism reports, statistics and plans
